Inventor Flint Lockwood creates a machine that makes food rain from the sky.
Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) is an inventor with a lot of failed experiments under his belt that lives with his widowed father Tim, (James Caan) and his pet monkey, Steve (Neil Patrick Harris) on a small island called Swallow Falls. One day the sardine cannery closes up and since the cannery is the only source of revenue on the island, people are forced to eat only sardines as nourishment. Flint then invents the "Flint Lockwood Diatonic Super Mutating Dynamic Food Replicator" but after overloading the circuitry in his lab, he goes in search for a bigger power source. He finds what he is looking for but causes a great disaster when he is rocketed through town on his machine, ruining weather-girl Samantha Spark's big break in the process.
Soon after, the machines flies up into the atmosphere, causing it to start raining hamburgers. The town is then pleased with it's new food choices and not long after changes their name to "ChewandSwallows" making it a tourist destination. The greed and gluttony of this new found money revenue causes disastrous effects for the town and threatens the entire world.

I thought this movie was super cute but since I had not seen it in a very long time (it was supposed to be on my original list to review when I first started this blog) I decided to refresh myself with it, especially since I wanted to see the sequel. Neil Patrick Harris voices Flint Lockwood's pet monkey Steve by speaking through an invention that Flint makes called the "Monkey Thought Translator". I just loved the one word responses and comic relief that Steve adds to the movie, I really think that Steve is one of my favorite characters in the entire film.
This is a good one to snuggle up with your little ones and enjoy a nice, relaxing movie night in and Don't Forget the Popcorn!
