Flint Lockwood, now working for his idol, Chester V at The Live Corp Company, is sent back to Swallow Falls to stop his machine once it is discovered that it is spawning dangerous "Foodimals", animal-food hybrids.

Picking up right where the first film left off, Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) and his friends are relocated while a clean-up team is sent to Swallow Falls to clean up the mess that his food creator machine has made.  Once relocated, Flint begins working at The Live Corp Company for his idol, Chester V (Will Forte).

Chester and his greatest creation and right hand girl, Barb (Kristen Schaal) an orangutan with a human brain inside her ape brain, plan on making the "Food Bar 8" and replicating it with Flint's machine, unbeknownst to Flint.  Chester sends search parties out to retrieve the machine but no one can find it and the "foodimals" that have taken over the island are wiping out the search parties sent to look for it.  Chester then decides to send Flint back to his home island to find and stop his invention.

Flint's friends decide to tag along on the mission and once they arrive back on the island, they are amazed to see what it has evolved into.  They were warned that the new inhabitants of the island are dangerous and armed with this knowledge, Flint must decide if he is going to follow his idol Chester and shut down his invention or if he is going to follow his friends and turn his back on Chester.

Personally, I think I liked this movie better than the first.  The colors in the scenes are breath taking and the "foodimals" are pretty creative.  Along with the inventive name "foodimals" to describe the new breed of creature found on the island, they have pretty cool names for each breed of animal such as tacodiles, cheespiders, apple piethon, bananostritch and my personal favorite shrimpanzee.

I am not a huge fan of Anna Farris, so her voice in the film kind of grates my nerves a little but that is really the only downside I have about this movie.  My favorite character is still Steve the Monkey (voiced by Neil Patrick Harris) just because he has the best reactions to everything going on around him.  Overall, this is a cute film.  Maybe not one I am willing to sit through 115 times (since most small children like to watch the same film over and over again) but I could definitely sit through it a few more times before it starts to get old.  Sit down with your favorite little person (or people) and watch all the food filled surprises in this film and Don't Forget the Popcorn!
