Rose Hathaway is a half human, half vampire girl known as a Dhampir that calling is to protect her friend Lissa Dragomir, a princess of the peaceful and mortal vampire race known as the Moroi from the immortal, bloodthirsty vampire race, the Strigoi.

Having escaped from St. Vladimir Academy a year prior, Rose Hathaway (Zoey Deutch) a Dhampir novice and her best friend, a Moroi princess, Lissa Dragomir (Lucy Fry) are living discreetly in the modern world.  They are soon found and dragged back to St. Vladimir's where they are met with rumors and suspicions about their departure.

As they try to fit back into their normal lives, Lissa is threatened with mysterious messages that turns out to be from classmate Mia Rinaldi (Sami Gayle) who was infatuated with Lissa's older brother and after he died, focused all her rage on Lissa, even getting two  boys to do her bidding by having sex with them.

While this is going on Rose is being taught by her Russian Dhampir mentor, Dimitri Belikov (Danila Kozlovsky).  As they begin to spend more and more time together, Rose realizes that she has feelings for Dimitri.  Christian (Dominic Sherwood) a fellow Moroi that is an outcast to the other students tries to romance Lissa.  Rose, not liking the thought of Christian and Lissa together, tells both of them lies to keep them apart.

After the Equinox Dance, Lissa is kidnapped and Rose sets off to find her with Dimitri and Christian's help before it is too late.

I hated this film.  It is a film meant for tweens and it shows it all the way through.  The romance is flat and one dimensional, the relationships are lame and the story is really kind of dumb.  It is like they took the worst parts of "Twilight" and tried to add the best parts of "Harry Potter", only to come up with something only barely comparable to either.  It also emulated a teenager as it was quite  moody and full of young, raging hormones.

I really don't have too much to say about it, it truly was not a great film.  When I watched the trailer I thought that it might be pretty interesting but once I saw the film, I realized all the best parts were in the trailer.  I am just a little disappointed that I spent my time on this instead of sitting through something better.

I wouldn't recommend this film to anyone.  If you really want to see a teen angst type film, just go check out "Twilight" again.  At least with "Twilight", you know what you are getting yourself into, this film felt a little out of control in the story line department.  Whatever you decide about this one, Don't Forget the Popcorn!
