Diana

Movie Title-- Diana

Release Year--  2013

Running Time--  1 Hour and 52 Seconds

Director--  Oliver Hirschbiegel

Cast--  Naomi Watts, Naveen Andrews, Cas Anwar, Charles Edwards, Douglas Hodge, Juliet Stevenson

A narrative of Princess Diana of Wales' last two years.

The story of Princess Diana of Wales (Naomi Watts) during her last two years after she divorces Prince Charles, falls in love with  Pakistani doctor Dr. Haznat Khan (Naveen Andrews) and ends untimely in the car crash that took her life.

This film is very underwhelming, I did not enjoy it at all.  To me, it showed Diana in a very negative light; super needy, vindictive and very conniving.  I know that she was a person with flaws, just like everyone else but this film only lightly touches on her humanitarian efforts and only showcases her rocky and tumultuous relationship with Dr. Khan in a way that is almost trashy.

I was very disturbed by this film, since after all it was supposed to be a bio topic and it just focused on her love life.  This woman did amazing things and yes, she was lonely and sought affection but what else can you expect from a woman that married into the monarchy, only to be tossed aside as if she were worthless.  I believe she went on to be a greater woman than she would have been if she would have stayed married into the monarchy.

This is a film to skip.  If you are looking for something about Princess Diana, look anywhere but here.  The best thing about this film is how shockingly similar Naomi Watts looks like Diana.  Don't waste your time with this film and until next time, Don't Forget the Popcorn!
